- What is a regulatory body and what is a regulatory framework?
A regulatory body is either a public organisation or a government agency that regulates a specific sector. Often regulatory body's will have set standards and guidelines which have to be followed and if not they can impose sanctions against anyone that breaks them.
Regulatory framework is a set of rules set out by the regulatory body which have been approved by the government. These rules can include laws, regulations, decrees and policies.
- What is Ofcom, what does it do and what framework does it produce and follow?
Ofcom is a government-approved regulatory body for screen and radio in the uk.

Ofcom draws up a code that every production that is under there watch has to follow, The code is updated every few years to adapt to the viewers beliefs and feelings, The code has 10 main sections covering things like 'Harm and offence' to commercial references on tv'.
- What is the ASA, what does it do and what framework does it produce and follow?
The ASA stands for Advertisement Standards Authority and is an independent advertising regulator. They make sure that ads ran on uk media stick to the advertising rules. The ASA follows two codes the 'CAP code' for anything that are not broadcast and the 'BCAP code' for advertisements that our broadcasted.

- What is the IPSO, what does it do and what framework does it produce and follow?
The "Independent Press Standards Organisation" is the largest regulator of newspapers and magazines in the uk. They make sure that standards remain high and hold the press to what they publish whilst also making sure that rights our protected and that the freedom of the press is upheld. They have a thing called the 'editors code' that sets out what editors can and cant do. they also offer hotlines for journalist that might feel they our being pressed into doing things that our wrong or their personal rights our being ignored. The ipso is funded by member publications.
- What is the BBFC, what does it do and what framework does it produce and follow?
The British Board of Film Classification is an independant non-government body which has classified films from 1912 and videos and dvds since the video recordings act was passed in 1984. The BBFC gives out the age ratings that our easily recognisable.
- What is PEGI, what does it do and what framework does it produce and follow?
The Pan European Game Information our the people that our behind the ratings that our seen on the front of every video game. PEGI is a non profit company with a social purpose.
PEGI has an interesting animated explanation videos that simply shows the process of gaining a PEGI rating.
- What is the Creative Industries Council and what is their involvement with regulation?
The creative industries council is a voice for the creative industry. They help knock down barriers for the creative industry for things like finance, skills, export markets, regulations and infeastructure. The creative industy council often give out recemendations on portential issues facing the industy like recently on Diversity and inclusion.
