My Creative Enterprise (Task 10)
- A SWOT
Strength:
Filming content with quality audio. I also have a good knowledge of how a wide range of different equipment works. I also have developed skills in premiere pro so can edit my own videos. other people see my knowledge of how equipment works and its setup. I also am always ready when called on.
Weakness:
Limited access to higher quality equipment to increase quality of content. I could personally improve on being more informative to clients and people I work with.my confidence is possibly something that people would describe as a weakness.
Opportunities:
With a growing need for a good online presence the need for good quality advisement also grows, so a business that offers both in one package and can do majority of the work in house isn't often seen. When creating advertisement you will always have to adapt to new trends to make sure content being posted is relevant.
Threats:
Bigger company's also spotting the gap or seeing your work and moving in a taking potential clients. Equipment failure as if it fails on set then a bad review from a client could come in which could ruin the reputation of the business. There is many business that offer creation of advisement content or creation and help with brand identity (social media and websites etc) but very little that offer both but bigger company's in advertisement could easily move into offering both areas. Both with Brexit and coronavirus they could both largely affect the business in terms of clients which will then have an affect on the business cash-flow.
- A pest(el)
Political - If the government was to step in a change things the main ones that would affect us is the policy changes that we would have to adapt to by law, as well as following any new laws that did come in but things like trade and foreign markets would have little change on how we operate and would possibly only increase cost on any props or new equipment that is brought in as the business is locally focused rather than worldwide.
Economic - if the economy is dropping business will have less spare cash to spend on advertisement which could result in people not spending anything on advertisement or budgets for a commission dropping which would lower profits.
Social - The core target audience of the business itself is middle class business owners, this kind of target audience is fairly stable but will be affect by large changes in government and health issues like coronavirus and wont want extra people inside the business where possible. There is also a constantly changing audience depending on who the clients target audience is.
Technological - Camera equipment and software is a vital part of the business and these our constantly evolve and change with new marketing ways constantly appearing. When it comes to equipment the stand year on year increases and prices fluctuate for new equipment meaning that whatever you buy could lose value quickly if infested into at the wrong time.
Environmental - Every business now needs to be trying to lower their carbon footprint, I would also want to also like to lower the carbon footprint In the main you keep it as low to start with with limited travel and if company vehicles our brought think environmentally but if this isn't enough then get involved in a initiative to give back to the environment this might be in planting trees or investing in new technology's.
Legal - Equality has to be at the forefront of anything the business does this doesn't mean the company has to end up being diverse but no one should be put aside for stupid reasons and the people that have the highest skill level should be the ones that our hired. Health and safety requirements will have to be sorted out before anything happens from inside the office things and on set requirements that have to be meet like carrying heavy items and any possible harm. clients rights have to be respect and anyone appearing in a production has to give consent. Lastly all regulatory restrictions have to be followed and understood in order to avoid any copyright or breaking of regulations which could result in fines
- My logo with feedback
These our the final two logos that I narrowed it down to and after asking the class the majority preferred the one on the left as they felt that it would stand out and be easily compatible across multiple platforms.
- What type of business
Me plus skilled employee / fellow creatives. (Limited company) / Sole Trader
- Business plan
'Bringing Film to the communities' and giving the local communities the exposure they deserve.
Goals:
- Enhancing local business exposure.
- Produce high quality advertisements that work.
- Become the place business look to to increase exposure.
- have access to the highest quality equipment.
- Expand the team and create a world leading creative workspace.
timescale - This will all take time with certain aspects being easier than others and representation will have to be built over many years to trust the business. 5 years is probably the smallest time frame that all the goals can be achieved in with it most likely being a lot longer.
aspirations - As a business owner I would want the vision of 'bringing film to the community' to expand and have the community interested and infused in how film is made and all the things that go into one single production.
- Business model
Running costs - Staff and utility plus any travel
Marketing costs - Small placements in local news papers but mostly done through doing research into companies to find where we could help and contacting and explaining what possibly could be achieved by working with them.
customer payments- Invoices.
Roadmap to profitably/how- After the first few business productions / advertisements our complete word should start getting around about the the business, as long as a good job has been done and from there profits.
- Mission statement
At LL Productions we strive to create the best advertisement and promotional videos for clients in our local area. Our goal is to make fellow business interesting again by providing high quality video production into the core of their brand. As well as bringing Film to the community We strive to be an eco friendly company to. Each company we work with gains access to bespoke skills that our inputted into every piece of content we put out.
- Brand positioning
business owners is the target audience for selling the product but the target audience for each clients needs will change and have to adapt so that the advert works. For the visible brand identity has to be neat and tidy as business often don't want to work with someone who doesn't come instantly across as professional.
- Marketing areas
Websites and social media. As well as word of mouth spreading from happy clients.
- Legislation to take into count;
- Intellectual property
- Copyright - this shouldn't be a large problem as we will create fresh content but any music tracks or stock footage that is used will need to be checked to make sure that we have all of the necessary licenses to use the content.
- GDPR - Once the business is legitimate and we work with clients all of there information will have to be completely secure along with any employee information as otherwise if there is a breech of personal information then the company could face large fines and also lose any representation.
- Insurances (public liability)
- Competition act
- Enterprise act - We just need to make sure as a business that we don't create anything that could damage a clients business in any way. As well as doing nothing to harm any similar advisement company's in any anti-competitive way.
- What industry inside the creative industry
Film and video plus advertisement
- Growth
The Creative economy is constantly growing and evolving into many areas and is one of the leading contributors to the UK's economy.
- Regulatory bodies that will need to be followed
ASA - This is because we will be creating advertisements that will be published into the public domain. This means we will be required to stay inline with ASA and CAP guidelines depending on whatever platform it is seen on.
Ofcom- If one of the advertisements was to end up being really against the ASA codes then Ofcom would step in as the legal backstop to the ASA and could result in legal action.
- Finance
Personal to start , expand on profits and sales. Where possible share finished work online and possibly gain ad revenue.
- Insurances
Professional indemnity insurance - This will protect against any mistakes that lead to a clients business to suffer , protection against code violations and against any intellectual property problems.
Media Liability insurance - This could come in handy when it comes down to protecting against the many areas that a company could deem you to have failed from things like breach of confidentiality to making false or misleading claims.
Cyber insurance - This will protect you if there is a data breach from an outside hacker.
Public liability insurance - This simply protects against injury or damages caused by an employee of the business.
Business contents insurance - This will cover every thing owned by the company whilst its inside the business property.
- Possible business rates
Business rates will only apply once I own a commercial property. To start with the business will most likely fall into the small business multiplier will apply (x £0.491p) on top of the value of the business. This might mean that we our able to obtain some kind of relief.
